Hello world! President Obama is on the way!
Hello everyone. This is my very first post on Today.com and I am nervous and excited. I have always wanted the opportunity to share my sometimes strange, always random thinking on the world we live in. Much of what you will read here will be actual conversations that go on in my life. If you are at all interested in the musings of an older Black woman living in America, you’ve come to the right place.
I must start with the Obama campaign. I am an Obama Mama and have been for some time. I’ll admit that my first inclination when Barack, (I can call him that because I’m his elder), announced his run, was, “Why now?”, “He’s too young, he should wait” and “He doesn’t have a chance against Hillary”. I soon ate my words as I marveled at this young man who is so representative of this country, energize and inspire so many people. Through all the ups and downs of the last few months, he has emerged with dignity and grace and has made me so proud.
Here are my latest random thoughts:
Father Pfeger: In the minds of most Black folks, he spoke the truth. I don’t claim that Hillary actually said the words he suggested but I think she would have to be a saint not to have thought them. And I don’t think she’s a saint. She is however a 60 year old, white woman born and raised in America and unfortunately she is a product of her time. I am not saying that she is a racist, but like many of us Baby Boomers, she is a racialist. That means she thinks in terms of race when evaluating.
Bill Clinton: May have been the first Black president and he proved it with typical “crabs in the barrel” attitude*. In short, he’s been acting like a N*****. I don’t use that word but in this case it’s appropriate.
Hillary Clinton: A very smart woman but she has gotten her comeuppance. She did think that the nomination was going to be handed to her just as New York Democrats gave her the Senate nomination.
Michelle Obama: She’s a Capricorn like me so I know she don’t take no sh**. There will be no intern stories out of the White House in the next administration. If there are, they will be immediately followed by the murder of the president story.
